salvaged sconces
It all begins with an idea.
What’s a theater but light contained?
Back during COVID we discovered the remnants of a few art deco sconces in the theater balcony. A few turned into a few more and next thing we knew we had a complete set of aluminum cast Art Deco sconces from 1938. We were desperate for projects at the time, so after finding a few remaining shards of the original glass slats, we set out to rebuild all of them.
We did our best, but the original wires and sockets were too old and corroded to reuse, so we stripped all of the wires and switches out and set them aside for posterity. Note the four switches and different color light sockets. They were green, yellow, red, in the smaller size and white lights in the three larger sockets. To preserve this multi color aspect, we installed wi-fi controlled lights (3x) which created a wide array of colors and color mixes.
The effect in the theater was beautiful, infinite colors playing off the interior.
